What Komal Does
Before the camera comes out, I watch.
I've spent years learning to read dogs — their body language, the way they carry tension or ease, the exact moment a dog decides a space is safe. That observation is the foundation of every photograph I make. Not the equipment, not the location. The relationship that exists before the shutter ever clicks.
Growing up in India, I spent years looking after street dogs. Twenty-five of them over time, dogs without owners who had no reason to trust anyone. I fed them, cared for them when they were sick, and sat with them long enough that trust arrived on its own terms. That experience gave me something no course ever could: a genuine understanding of how animals open up, and what they look like when they do. You can see it in the photographs.

That’s absolutely okay. Your pet’s safety is Komal’s top priority, and many of the animals she photographs remain on a leash the entire time. She uses professional techniques to remove leashes during editing, so your final images will look natural and leash-free without ever compromising your pet’s comfort or safety.
